ABC Foundation – board evaluation

This private family grant-making foundation is overseen by five trustees, comprising three family members and two independent professionals with specialised expertise in finance and law. Despite noble intentions, the foundation encountered considerable friction stemming from interpersonal dynamics, personal biases, communication barriers, and conflicts of interest.



In response to these challenges, KMA conducted a thorough evaluation of the foundation's governance practices, board dynamics, and interactions with the executive team. As a result, our recommendations focused on fostering positive change. This included diversifying the board to inject fresh perspectives, enhancing the quality of information shared with the board, and implementing robust policies to promote transparency, accountability, and conflict resolution. Through these measures, we aimed to strengthen the foundation's operations and facilitate its mission-driven endeavours.
